At Hood Trading, we provide the full range of outdoor contracting services plus a variety of other building and maintenance services. Photos below are just a glimpse into what we have done for others.

Lawn Mowing
From Ride-ons to Push Mowers, we have various sizes of mowers to do any lawn mowing services from residential lawns right through to school fields and sports grounds. So, no matter the size we've got you covered.
Lawn Spraying
For all your lawn care spraying needs we have the equipment available to do anything from residential weed control through to blanket spraying sports grounds / school fields even lifestyle blocks by a qualified operator.
Water Blasting
Need some pressure washing done? We have our own trailer-mounted water blaster with a 400 litre tank and 50 meters of hose, we can haul out to get the job done, big or small. Available for hire if you prefer to do it yourself.
Site Clearing
With a Posi-Track (Bobcat) and an experienced operator, we are able to offer site clearing, land clearing, earthmoving, excavation and other earthworks jobs for your next landscape, driveway or clean-up project.
Rubbish Removal
From simply dropping a trailer on site for you to fill and taking it away when you're done to bringing a crew onto your site or residence, loading up your junk, rubbish or unwanted goods and getting rid of it; we can get it sorted.
Private Freight / Car Transport
We can move those larger cars / equipment or freight that can’t fit on your average transport trailer, with our tilting 5.6m x 2.3m flat deck fitted with winch and electric braking. Rated to 3.5 ton.
Furniture Assembly / Moving
From collecting, delivering to your home (or other location) and assembling your latest furniture purchase to helping you move house, we can put a crew together to get it done pronto.
Small Tree Removal & Care
Whether it's cutting back a few branches or cutting trees back to ground level, we'll see you right. We can assist with tree felling, tree trimming or tree pruning.
Gutter Cleaning
Do you have gutters that are blocked or need clearing out but don't have the equipment? With a small, easy-moving scaffold we could clear out and unblock those gutters and spoutings for you.
Hedge Trimming
Using our multi with the trimmer, we are able to cut back those overgrown hedges.
Maintenance
We are able to do small maintenance or repair jobs around your home or property.
Rodent & Pest Control
We are available to lay out traps and bait stations for pest control.

Equipment For Hire
Under our Hoodies Hire brand, we have a range of equipment and tools available for hire to help you get the job done! See below for photos of some of our equipment. We are also growing our pool of equipment, so if we don’t have it now, it means we don’t have it YET.
Equipment is available 7 days a week. NO TOWBALL NO PROBLEM.
If you need bigger equipment delivered and picked up it’s not a problem within Hawera township. We can deliver beyond township for a very reasonable rate. We can also do pickup for bigger rubbish lots for dump on case-by-case rates.
Hood Trading is a family-based contracting business, locally owned and operated by Henry & Lucky Hood.
It was started in 2021 following a request for service from a local school to maintain their grounds. We invested in the gear required and picked up new clients through word of mouth.
In 2022 we chose to chase larger scale contracts and sought the tools and equipment to suit this target going forward, bigger more efficient gear.
Early 2024 we decided to hire out underutilized equipment - HOODIES HIRE was born. We purchased a few extra pieces of equipment to provide service and we are still growing our pool of equipment.
In the last period, an opportunity presented itself to get into Boom Spraying with a focus on school fields, sports grounds and the odd lifestyle block. We're looking at expanding into lifestyle block maintenance as well, providing spreading, topping and spraying services.
Our FUTURE GOAL is to build up our mowing, spraying and maintenance business looking after club fields, sports fields, council-owned lawns, fields and parks and also offer these services to local marae. We also want to grow our residential client base for mowing.
We are a family business and we involve our children where possible, teaching them values, work ethics and skills that will help them grow as individuals.
